Seasonal Celebration features Pumpkin Carving, Jack-o-Lantern Walk, and Children’s Costume Parade

Mystic Seaport Museum celebrates fall and Halloween this year with Halloween Happenings, three family-friendly events spread over eight days, with the highlight being a Jack-o-Lantern Walk through the Museum grounds.

Beginning Monday, October 26, and running through Friday, October 30, the Museum will transform its grounds into a spooky, haunted trail lit by more than 500 jack-o-lanterns. At the end of the walk, visitors can enjoy food and live music, play a lawn game, warm up by a roaring fire, or join a small tour that explores the darker side of the Museum’s historic village.

The walk runs 5:30-9:00 p.m. each night.

Admission to the Jack-o-Lantern Walk is by a special ticket:

Adults (ages 13 and up) $20.00, Youth (ages 4-12) $15.00.

Museum members: Adult $17.50 and Youth $12.00.

Prior to the Jack-o-Lantern Walk, the Museum will hold two days of public pumpkin carving where visitors can carve one or more pumpkins that will be displayed in the walk. Pumpkins and all tools will be provided, and participants will receive a $2 discount coupon to be applied against admission to the walk. Carvers will be encouraged to come back and find their creation among the 500 jack-o-lanterns on display the following week. The carving sessions are Saturday and Sunday, October 24-25, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Museum will culminate the series with a costume parade on Halloween Day, Saturday, October 31. All day long, kids in costume (ages 12 and under) will enjoy free admission to the Museum. After 4 p.m., the community is invited onto the grounds for free to gather on the Museum’s Village Green for a socially distanced Halloween Costume Parade beginning at 4:30 p.m. All participants will enjoy Halloween treats when they exit after the parade.
